GEORGE CAMPUS

The George College was established as a part time institution and started offering classes for the first time in January 1968. In 1976 the first full time principal took office and the first full time students were enrolled. In 1987 the college moved to its current premises in Hibernia Street and in 1996 a new wing, comprising of eight new classrooms, a new administration block and an ablution block was added. A Practice Firm operating as the South Cape Travel Simulated Enterprise, implemented in 2002 at the Campus, ensures practical business experience for students.

The Campus is proud of the fact that it is well respected regionally and nationally, provides excellent education and training to students on a full time as well as part time basis and is widely recognized for its quality education and excellent results. For the last number of years this campus counted amongst the national top ten colleges because of their excellent examination results. In 2002 they were top of the list. They also pride themselves that in a recent survey, 95.2% of their students secured employment within one year.

The Outeniqua and George Campuses merged in 2005 with many new additions to the campus making this one of the largest of the South Cape College's Campuses.

The Future: The South Cape College George Campus hopes in the near future to become an institution of world-class education. With our courses adapting on a yearly basis to workplace demands, the constant purchase of the latest equipment and lecturers with practical business experience, our students are equipped to take the business world by storm.
