NATIONAL CERTIFICATE: SAFETY IN SOCIETY LEVEL 2,3 AND 4
Safety in Society in a nutshell
The National Certificate (Safety in Society) is a programme at each of Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the NQF. This programme is designed to provide both the theory and practice of Safety in Society. The practical component of the study may be offered in the workplace or in a simulated workplace environment. It will provide students with an opportunity to experience work situations during the period of study.
Level 2 subjects:

- Introduction to Policing Practices
- Principles of Criminal Justice
Level 3 subjects:
- Governance
- Criminal Law
- Criminal Justice Structures and Mandates
- Theory of Policing Practices (O)*
- Criminology
Level 4 subjects:
- Govermance
- Law Procedures and Evidence
- Criminal Justice Process
- Applied Policing
- Criminology (O)*
Entry requirements:
- A Grade 9 certificate, or
- An NQF Level 1 qualification, or
- ABET Level 4 certificate, or
- An appropriate registered equivalent programme obtained at NQF Level 1
Duration of the programme:
The qualification is a full year programme at each of the NQF levels of study. A student is issued with a certificate on successful completion of each level of study.

- First additional language – which must be the language of teaching and learning;

- Join the Private Security Services e.g. Security management, Community Policing
- Join the National Statutory Intelligence Agencies
