Level 2-4 Hairdressing in a nutshell:
This qualification is for any individual who is or wishes to be involved in the hairdressing industry. The qualification is intended to enhance the provision of entry level service within the hairdressing industry.
Entry requirements:
- A Grade 9 certificate
- An NQF Level 1 qualification
Duration of the programme:
- 18 months: 6 months per level

LEVEL 2 Basic Certificate

- Induction to the personal care sector
- Layout services and facilities of the organisation
- Process incoming and outgoing calls
- Sanitation and sterilisation
- Monitor deportment and the importance of image in the workplace
- Retailing in the hairdressing industry
Electives:
- Finish off hair design
- The history and application of make-up
- Mould and finger wave hair
- Neutralise perms and apply after care
- Remove hair colouring and apply after care
LEVEL 4 - National Certificate
Fundamental Subjects:

Core Subjects:
- Receive and consult with clients
- Display, promote and sell products
- Cut and shape hair
- Perform hairstyling techniques
- Demonstrate knowledge of the selection and application of semi permanent hair colour
Electives:
- Apply advanced hair cutting techniques using scissors, clippers, razors and cutting equipment
- Apply advanced cutting techniques using professional cutting equipment
- Cut, style and dress hair in elementary styles
- Prepare for and apply day, evening, bridal & photographic make-up
LEVEL 5 - Higher Certificate

- Monitor and manage the sanitation and sterilisation methods in the workplace
